Nancy asks…Should I amend my 2009 taxes just for the 8839 or should I wait to see if the IRS actually NEEDS it amended?We have a finalized adoption in 2009.
Since the credit did not make a difference in our refund last year, we were told by our tax preparer not to bother filling out the 8839 form.
This year with the credit being refundable, we want to use it.
We filled out the form for 2010 and mailed it in about 5 weeks ago.
I have now read on another website that it is a carry over credit
