Lisa asks…I left the UK 6 years ago owing the bank £20k, what will happen if I try and open an account now?I have had no communication with any UK bank since then. I am also in the same postion with the student loans company.
The debt is largely a graduate loan, some overdraft and a credit card. I left not to run away but because I got a job in in Europe and couldn't at first afford any of the repayments. The lady at the bank said to me "ok, call me when you can start the repayments again",
